Wildflowers out West

I met a friend at @risebakeryau at Sanctuary Cove marina yesterday. What a great little find!

They had cabinets filled with French-style pastries. I had a sausage roll, it had the most buttery, flakey pastry ever. I had to get a yummy too, so this Paris-Brest made its way to the table 😁 Lashings of hazelnut cream and a ring of pastry, ahhh so good.

Apparently this iconic French pastry was invented in 1910 by the pastry chef Louis Durand. It was named after a bike race that runs between Paris and the port city of Brest, in northwest France. It's round ring shape represents a bike wheel!

They recently opened another bakery in Brisbane, find them - and their champagne bar - at Portside Wharf though closed today sadly!

Went to check out the new pottery studio & cafe that recently opened up in Currumbin - @stonestudioandco.
Their JAM DONUT FRENCH TOAST was amazing! Housemade berry jam, cinnamon sugar, chantilly cream and fresh berries. OMG sooo good. Washed down with some slow drip coffee... So happy that all these new places are moving into my neighbourhood! Must give one of their pottery classes a go some time too, my grandmother was a potter so maybe I have some skills!

When your lovely Kiwi friend comes to visit but stops at @littlekiwibakehouse on the way 😮 We had all the Kiwi classics for morning tea - ginger crunch, marshmallow slice, afghan cookies and #lollycake.

If you're looking for a healthy lunch while shopping at @pacificfair check out @hipoke. I was invited to try their #pokebowl menu yesterday with some foodie friends. I made my own bowl and swapped out rice for super fresh and healhy zucchini pasta. I added karaage chicken, carrot cabbage corn edamame pickled ginger and crunchy #lotuschips with ponzu sauce. The lotus chips are slightly salted and yum! HiPoke also have a store in Kirra. (Ok so the fried chicken isnt sooooo healthy but they also have tuna salmon kingfish prawns and tofu as protein options.) #makeyourbowl #hipoke #guest

Today I got to enjoy a very unique dining experience, an 18 course degustation at @restaurantlocavore which is one of the top restaurants in Indonesia, regularly on Asia’s 50 Best list. This was an incredible wedding gift from some friends of ours who had dined there before... it was a food journey that blew our minds... my husband called it 'impossible food'. Locavore closes this week after 10 years of service (reincarnating into a new restaurant in a new location later in the year). So lucky we got to try this!!
