We loved every moment of our relaxing weekend at Tiny House Tamborine. Nestled among the trees on a wee hobby farm, this Airbnb is located at the base of Tamborine Mountain. With butcherbirds and kookaburras for company it’s so peaceful and we could hear the nearby stream and a rooster crowing in the distance.
At Tiny House Tamborine, the pièce de résistance is a majestic deep bath which sits pride of place on the deck. This outdoor bath was the main reason we booked, as we needed to relax and unwind. And we certainly made the most of it, enjoying long hot soaks on both days.
‘How’s the serenity?’ I ask my prune-fingered husband after he’d soaked for an hour in the bath.
Now it’s my turn, the steaming hot water and Epsom salts work their magic. With a glass of sparkling Shiraz in my hand and my fave tunes playing, I sing my little heart out while soaking under the stars. You could’ve poured me out afterwards, I was SO relaxed.

BYO food and wine
We bought supplies with us, which was a good thing, as once we’d settled in we didn’t want to leave. We had cheese and nibbles and sausages and bread and wine and gin. And chocolate. The 2 burner gas cooker was easy to use and the decent sized fridge and freezer meant there was plenty of room for our food and drinks.
A variety of different teas and a pod coffee machine are provided for guests. More importantly, marshmallows and a cool telescopic marshmallow fork are provided. Boom! Nothing says weekend away like a fire and toasting your own marshmallows. Dry wood for the firepit is stacked for guests at the side of the house.
Living tiny, living eco
I’ve long dreamed of having my own tiny retreat in the bush somewhere.
This is the second tiny house I’ve stayed in so far, so I took notes about what I liked and what I’d change. I loved checking out the layout and the space saving ideas (like cupboards under the stairs). It’s a dual loft with one Queen and one double bed upstairs, with standing room (unless you’re 6’2’’ like my husband). The spacious shower with rain shower head was an unexpected bonus, and I loved the huge window near the kitchen, it opens right up and has a breakfast bar underneath.
Tiny House Tamborine is semi-off grid and uses 100% tank water. All the windows have fly screens so you can open them without bugs getting inside. The beds are comfy and snug. The compost loo is easy to use and is super eco as it uses no water.
In case you’re interested this tiny was built by Aussie Tiny Houses on the Sunshine Coast, it’s their Hazel 8.4 model – a really great design.

Relax, you got this
I felt so incredibly relaxed after this weekend away.
If you book a stay here, I suggest you bring a book or magazine to read. Plan on a long soak and let your stress just melt away. Pack your favourite goodies and lashings of ginger beer.
Be sure to put your phone away to make the most of the serenity.

Recommendations
- Bring extra towels if you’re planning on a couple of long soaks. We also bought our own Epsom salts.
- Bring bug spray. We had the firepit roaring each night, as much for the smoke (to keep bugs away) as the flames and heat.
- You might want an eye mask if you plan on sleeping in past sunrise.
- If it’s been raining lots you’ll want boots (my gumboots came in handy) and a raincoat (fyi an umbrella keeps the rain off while you’re in the bath lol).
- Bring an apple or carrots to feed the miniature ponies in the nearby paddock, so cute!
- When you check out, drive 20 mins to the top of Tamborine Mountain to enjoy a delicious brunch (can’t go past Picnic Real Food Bar).
