5 reasons you’ll love the Paleo Camping Retreat

It’s not often you get to sit around a campfire talking about the benefits of bone broth, but that’s exactly what we did at the Paleo Camping Retreat last year.

This awesome Paleo Camping weekend is run by Aimee and Clint from Primal Influence, and Dan the Aussie Paleo Chef. Different to your usual yoga-girls-with-green-smoothies retreat… it includes Paleo cooking demonstrations, slack lining and natural play, a bush tucker walk, star gazing, swimming in the creek, and the best soul-warming campfire…

The retreat is hosted on private land, a hidden green oasis on the Sunshine Coast, far from the hustle and bustle… it’s quiet, and driving out there I could feel the stress of my busy week melting away.

I put up my little 2-man tent among the birds, trees and sunshine. And for two days I ditched my shoes to let my feet dance over the grass and clay. I unplugged too – no phone signal so we all had a digital detox.

I met nine lovely people from all walks of life; locals from the Sunshine Coast, and one lovely lady from Melbourne. We ate our meals around the campfire and conversation flowed.

Aimee, Dan and Clint shared interesting stories about their unique paleo lifestyle, which is much more than just the food they eat. Aimee often goes foraging at the beach and Clint teaches kids primal play and movement. I asked lots of questions and enjoyed chatting to chef Dan while he cooked our delicious meals (his ‘roo tail stew was superbly cooked on the fire).

There was loads of foodie fun too! I tried roasted chilli and garlic crickets, discovered the most incredible cinnamon honey, tried stinging nettle tea, and made panna cotta with finger limes picked from the tree.

This retreat is amazing. Here are 5 reasons to sign up now:

  1. Rewild yourself, reconnect with nature and restore your natural rhythms
  2. Unplug from screens and have a digital detox
  3. Sit around the campfire and make new friends as you toast homemade marshmallows
  4. Get out of your comfort zone, push your boundaries and recharge your batteries
  5. Score your own chef for the weekend!

I had so much fun at the Paleo Camping Retreat I’m going back again this year – will you join me?
