“It’s Friday, life is good… I might swing by and try one of those fancy new ice cream sandwiches” I chirp to myself, with little appreciation for the sugar tsunami that’s about to come my way.
Mister Fitz is a new Brisbane oasis for those with an overactive sweet tooth, located on Grey Street in South Bank, across the road from that other dessert champion Cowch (and right next to Doughhnut Time!) There’s also one in the Valley.
The concept is simple: build your own Ice Cream sandwich – two cookies with ice cream squeezed in the middle:
Step 1: Choose your two cookies – today there’s peanut, chocolate chip, M&Ms, Nutella, white chocolate pecan, double chocolate and confetti sprinkles
Step 2: Choose your ice cream (all hand made) – flavours include mint choc chip, butterscotch, chocolate, cookies and cream, Nutella, boysenberry, banana, brown sugar and bacon
Step 3: Choose your sprinkle: toppings include fruit loops, Oreo cookie crush, malted pretzel crumbs, French fries (yes you read that right), unicorn crumbs, and candied bacon (!!)
Step 4: Choose your sauce: chocolate or salted caramel
Let me see, I’ll start with one M&M cookie and one peanut cookie please, with Nutella ice cream, Oreo cookie crumb sprinkles and salted caramel sauce….
You walk away with your ice cream sandwich, it’s bigger then Ben Hur, and you know it’ll make you bigger than Ben Hur, but you just don’t care. Because it’s Friday, and you worked hard. And you feel like a little kid again, so you surf the sugar rush and hang 10 for while….
