I’ve never had a St Christopher, but I have my own travel talismans that come with me whenever I go wandering….
My greenstone necklace
My greenstone necklace always finds a place around my neck when I head off travelling. I like being recognised as a Kiwi and in many parts of the world people know that a greenstone necklace means New Zealander so it can be a great conversation starter. My greenstone is pretty special to me as it was a gift from good mates on my 30th birthday. It comes with me on all my adventures.
My Dad’s hanky
My Dad died in 1998, and ever since I’ve kept one of his old hankies – and when I go travelling it comes with me. It’s like I’m inviting him on the trip with me, and it makes me feel like he’s looking out for me.
Blue elephant and rhino
A Feng Shui expert I know recommended I travel with a blue elephant and rhino. They are the two most protective animals in Feng Shui and are used for good luck and protection, especially from robbery and accidents.
